In 1991 he published his seventh work (“Silente cavalleria di primavera”, Spirali/Vel, Milano), novel that was met with great success by the public and the critics. It was reviewed by several national newspapers, officially presented at the press club of Milan and in major Italian cultural halls.

 

In the same year Piero Colle won the Nationall Prize Carnia Savorgnan for a story set in the mountains now published in a collection, by Campanotto Publishers, under the title "Ricreando Montagne".

 

After having won prizes for his poems (Fraulini, Leone di Muggia), he won the Orient Express, il viaggio prize for fiction with his novel L’amico finlandese, published in 1988 by Campanotto.

 

Recently, the Giunti Group of Florence has published the novelized biography of the great jockey Andrea Degortes, known as Aceto, with the titleAceto, fino all’ultimo Palio. The book has become well-known in a few weeks, obtaining a meaningful record in sales especially in the town of Siena and in the rest of Tuscany.

As a journalist, Piero Colle started collaborating with a magazine about tourism and sports on horseback called A briglie sciolte, and later became its publishing director.

 

He has collaborated with the newspaper Messaggero Veneto writing literary reviews (on contemporary fiction, poetry, essays/essay-writing); art criticism and articles on tourism. He also realized the critical introduction to the catalogues of the photographers Luigi Zilli (Udine, 1995) and Cristina Afan de Ribera Ybarra (Milano, 1996); and of the painter Luigi Stefano Cannelli (Udine, 1995), on occasion of their respective exhibitions which had a large following.

 

As far as ‘advertising’ is concerned, the publication called Dall’Alto Friuli al mare is a guide for horseback tourism in Friuli in which 22 holiday farms are presented, among other things. The presentation card, most of the photographs and their insertion have been personally seen to by the author.

 

As a cultural operator, Piero Colle is the inventor/conceivor of Paliodonna held in Udine, the only contest in the world exclusively for female jockeys, produced by director Marcello Terranova. Piero Colle has wrtitten the texts for the 1995, 1996 and 1997 editions of the videos of this big international show, which has meant yet another meaningful experience in the field of film-making.

 

He is the president of the Associazione Manifestazioni Udinesi and, as such, he organizes the above-mentioned event, as well as taking care of the press conference, publishing presentations, art exhibitions, meeting, international congresses. He is considered to be one of the greatest experts of the traditional Italian contests known as ‘Palio’. He is, furthermore, very much appreciated as a lecturer and critic.
